The Build-vs-Buy Problem

A connected product needs five hard things before it ships.

Your expertise is the sensor and the application. Cellular IoT is a separate engineering discipline — and each piece has to work together.

Cellular hardware

Modem, antenna, and low-power design that survives outdoors.

Carrier connectivity

SIMs, carrier agreements, and coverage across regions.

Certification

Radio and carrier approvals before you can sell.

Firmware & power

Sleep modes, sensor power-gating, OTA updates, local buffering.

Cloud & alerts

Ingest, storage, dashboards, calibration, and notifications.

BluCloud delivers all five as one working stack — deployed in the field today — so your team spends its time on the part only you can build.
The Platform

Three layers. Build on any of them.

Layer 1 · Hardware

Cellular board & sensor interface

  • 0–5 V and 4–20 mA sensor inputs
  • Power-gated sensor supply
  • SD card backup, OTA updates
  • Long-life battery or external power
Layer 2 · Connectivity

Multi-carrier cellular

  • LTE-M / NB-IoT on an embedded SIM
  • 550+ networks · 190+ countries
  • Verizon, T-Mobile & AT&T in the US
  • No carrier contracts to manage
Layer 3 · Cloud

Platform & alerting

  • Live status, history, and analytics
  • Per-device calibration formulas
  • Email, SMS, Slack & webhook alerts
  • Unlimited devices per account
Ways to Build

Start simple. Go as deep as you need.

Fastest

1 · Use as-is

Pair the BluCloud unit with your own 0–5 V or 4–20 mA sensor. Your instrument, our cellular link and cloud — no hardware changes, no custom firmware.

No engineering

2 · Configure

Shape behavior from the platform: calibration formulas to your engineering units, sampling and check-in intervals, alert thresholds and routing, and connectivity plan.

Engagement

3 · Customize

Custom hardware and firmware configurations, including electronics-only delivery, for products that need their own form factor or behavior.

Cloud Layer

A backend you don't have to build.

Every device lands in a ready platform. Shape it for your product and push events into your own systems.

  • Webhooks — alert rules can post to your endpoint, alongside email, SMS, and Slack
  • Calibration formulas — map raw sensor signal to your units, per device, with live preview
  • Per-device settings — check-in interval, retention, and thresholds
  • Full reading history — raw log with measurement and arrival times
  • Unlimited devices — one prototype or a whole fleet

Typical Builds

What partners build on it.

Your own branded monitor

Pair your probe or transducer with the BluCloud unit and sell a complete remote-monitoring product.

A cellular-ready instrument

Give an existing 0–5 V or 4–20 mA instrument a built-in cellular link and cloud, without designing the radio.

Retrofit kits

Upgrade legacy data loggers and wired SCADA endpoints to cellular for customers who don't want to replace sensors.

Multiparameter stations

Level, pressure, flow, temperature, and environmental sensors — smart-instrument support arrives with MODBUS RTU / RS-485 coming soon

Getting Started

From idea to working prototype.

Scope

Walk through your sensor, power, environment, and where the data needs to go.

Prototype

Connect your sensor to an evaluation unit and see live readings on the platform.

Tailor

Configure calibration, alerts, and integrations — and scope any hardware or firmware changes.

Pilot & scale

Validate in the field, then move to production volumes.

What we'll ask about: sensor type, signal, and supply voltage · battery-life target or external power · operating environment and enclosure needs · reporting interval and data volume · where data should land (dashboard, Slack, webhook) · regions, volumes, and timeline.

Frequently asked questions

What can we build on?

Three layers: the cellular board and sensor interface, multi-carrier cellular connectivity, and the cloud platform with alerting. Use them together, or tell us where your product starts and ends and we'll scope what fits.

How do we get data into our own systems?

Alert rules in the platform can post to a webhook endpoint, alongside email, SMS, and Slack. If you need a different integration path, tell us the requirement and we'll scope it with engineering.

Can we use our own sensor?

Yes. Connect any compatible 0–5 V or 4–20 mA sensor today. MODBUS RTU / RS-485 support for smart and multiparameter instruments is coming soon.

Can the hardware or firmware be customized?

Custom hardware and firmware configurations, including electronics-only delivery, are available as a scoped engagement for products that need their own form factor or behavior.

What about connectivity and carrier agreements?

Units ship with an embedded multi-carrier SIM covering 550+ networks across 190+ countries, so you don't negotiate carrier agreements. Plans are available for the US, Canada, or Global, with custom options.

How do we get started?

Scope your sensor, power, and environment with us, connect your sensor to an evaluation unit, and see live readings on the platform. Terms and pricing are discussed directly.

Tell us what you're building.

Share your sensor, your environment, and where the data needs to go. We'll tell you how BluCloud fits.
